Help support your child's school!
Please CONTRIBUTE to help us reach our fundraising goal of 100% participation from our families.
The Lab Middle School Direct Appeal is our singular, most important fundraiser. The Direct Appeal is the lifeline that allows Lab Middle to offer the extensive afterschool programs and fund the necessary expenses that make our school the vibrant community that it is. Without your continued support, these programs cannot not exist!

All students at Lab Middle School are encouraged to participate in an ever-growing array of exciting and diverse afterschool activities to enrich their educational experience and strengthen their bond with their community. Lab takes pride in its afterschool programs. Last Fall, the middle school held a pep rally to support students participating in afterschool programs, athletics and clubs. Every group made banners; the school band provided the “pep;” and each participant went on stage to the applause of the crowd. GO GATORS!
The Parents’ Association raises funds for all afterschool programs – from the Athletics to the Clubs. In this section are just some of the Lab afterschool options.
Clubs
Lab Middle School has an active Student Government Organization (SGO). The SGO helps to improve the students’ experience at Lab Middle School by identifying school-wide problems and bringing them to the attention of the School Administration. Periodic social events and social responsibility activities help Lab Middle School to build a sense of community. These events include after school dances and an annual Thanksgiving canned food drive. Each homeroom elects a class representative and an alternate to the SGO at the beginning of the school year. SGO officers (President, Vice President, Chief of Staff, and Treasurer) are elected by all SGO members.
Clubs at Lab are student driven. The SGO has created an application, and any student who is interested in forming a club can submit the application for approval. Applications are reviewed on an ongoing basis, so the club offerings at Lab will continually grow and change. In the 2009-2010 academic year, the clubs were formed around certain social issues. For example, one club led a school-wide book drive to benefit Invisible Children, a non-profit organization to rebuild war-torn Uganda. Another club, The Gay/Straight Alliance, builds awareness of Gay/Straight issues.
Other clubs that meet during lunch period include the Stock Market Club, the Film Club, the Black Alliance Club and the the Gay/Straight Alliance Club. Announcements about clubs are made by SGO student reps in each class during homeroom. Students also learn about clubs from flyers posted around the schools and in the stairwells. Clubs are open to all students who are interested in joining.
