Welcome to NYC Lab Middle for Collaborative Studies

NYC Lab Middle School for Collaborative studies is a grade 6-8 middle school and part of the New York City Department of Education in District 2. We are located in Manhattan between 8th and 9th avenue on 17th street in Chelsea.

The Lab School offers a core curriculum in the areas of Humanities (English Language Arts and Social Studies), Math and Science, as well as the areas of Visual Art, Instrumental Music, Spanish and Physical Education. Central to our work is our Collaborative Team Teaching program – which was one of the first to be developed in the city. In addition, we offer an extensive afterschool and athletics program. Our goal is to have every child connected to our school community beyond the classroom.

We are a mission driven school based on four core values – Collaboration, Diversity & Pluralism, Compassion and Academic Rigor. These values drive the work and culture of our school. Our expert staff works hard to create a learning environment that is safe and aligns with the needs of the early adolescent, while focusing on their academic learning.
